This article features the work of Ernie Hernandez a local California graphic designer that started his work early in his life. Ernie began refining his skills in his early years in Century High School located in Southern California, Santa Ana in the County of Orange. Taken all the art, design and photography classes that he could while in high eventfully it became clear that not only like drawing, airbrushing and painting but also enjoyed designing. Hi then continued his education attending Brooks College Graphic Design program in Long Beach California. It’s not until he was employed by Gorilla Marketing in Riverside California where he shined. Gorilla Marketing specializes in custom promotional products and distributes to many great schools and colleges including UCLA, USC and many more. After seven years for designing and helping Gorilla Marketing grow he decided it was time to expand his own design skills and start up his own design and promotional product Distribution Company called GD Solutions which stands for Graphic Design Solutions. |

What made you become a designer? |
| |
I’ve always been around art and have always liked to draw and paint so I decided why not make a career out of it and help local companies with their designs. |

How many years have you been drawing? |
| |
I’ve been drawing since I was little, but really called myself an artist in high school about 10 years ago when I was taking art, photography, screen printing, graphic design, live drawing, media painting and attending any art show I can get my hands on. I’ve been designing for over 7 years while working at Gorilla Marketing, this was a great job for me. I learned the in and outs of designer and custom relationship and learn a lot of great things with trial and error. |

What in store for GD Solutions in the future? |

Well we hope we’re still in businesses, no just kidding, knock on wood. I would like to see the company grow into something unique. Eventfully we want to be your first stop for everything that involves your business and marketing, from logo design all the way video and audio commercials. We would like to also expand our services and skills with our own Music Label, Racing Team and car customizing extensions. |

Who do you look up to? |
| |
Well I first want to thank my mother for all the support she gave me while growing up. I also want to give a lot of credit to two of my art teachers, Mrs. Goldberg from Sierra Middle School in Santa Ana, California and Mr. McElfresh from Century High School in Santa Ana, California. They both were really patient and supportive or all their creative student, thanks. Now I look up to one designer that’s from a different industry, Chip Foose. Even though he from the customizing automotive industry his ideas and design concepts have helped me with my own graphic designs. His concept of designing a car and customizing and changing it with out people really noticing what has changed is amazing. Subtle is the concept and details is the keyword. |
